Happy Friday! We will be entering our last week of the school year on Monday. I always get asked about underclassmen and semester tests. If a student needs to take a semester test, they need to take it at their assigned time. However, if it benefits you in getting grades done, then the student may take it with you earlier, but the student must remain with you the entire testing period. They can not go early. If a student will be gone those days, he/she will need an advance make up so they can be taken in advance of being gone.
I am happy to say we have hired a new Assistant Principal. His name is Kyle Formanek and he will be joining us from Gladbrook Reinbeck. He started his teaching career in 2012 as as social studies teacher and in 2017 moved into the technology coordinator/integrationist role.
We have also hired a new science teacher, Sarah Wonders. She is joining us from Dakota Valley High School in South Dakota. She will be teaching biology.
With semester tests next week, reminder to keep the students the entire time. We do not need the students wandering the halls or causing issues. We will let 7th period out a little early on Wednesday to clean lockers. At that time, please check student lockers and sign the sheets. If you have a question on damage, notify Neal or I and we will make the determination.
This will mostly be my final Friday Focus of the school year, so THANK YOU for a great year. I know, as a staff, we have been on a roller coaster of emotions this year. We have had lots to celebrate this year from our music groups earning division 1 ratings, to all the students who participated in the speech program that earned state honors, and to our Lakes Conference Championships. We graduated another class and we keep adding to the excellence of Le Mars Community High School. This is because of your hard work and willingness to go the extra mile for our students. This does not go unnoticed!
I also want to remind you that you need to have your Tier 2 reflection done, and then meet with Mr. Utesch or myself to go over your final reflection. We can do this on semester test day or on the check out day. Your plan should be in the shared google folder.
Next year marks a new beginning for us as we move to the MRAC conference. It also marks a new leadership team in the MTSS committee. This committee will be working on finding a screener we can use to identify students in math, reading, and social emotional. I also want them to start looking at our schedule and to see if we can come up with a way to incorporate some type of intervention time for the 20-21 school year.
Have a great weekend!

I want to thank everyone who invited me into their classrooms this year. I don't take it for granted that you were willing to either try something new, step out of your comfort zone, or maybe both. If you have any ideas for a PD class you would like to see next year, get that information to me and I will see what I can do to put it together this summer.
