Happy Friday! You have made it to the last school day of 2019! I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  Congrats to Nancy Isebrand for being named the December Employee of the Month! When we come back, I would like you to print off your advisory Star Reading and Math results per student and hand them back to the kids on Monday, January, 6 and talk about the results. You may want to talk about how we are using these results to determine if they need extra assistance in class or in an different setting. If they know their results and we are using them to help determine areas of weakness they may see that they should give their best effort on them. When we come back, I plan on meeting with the students who were identified as needing immediate assistance and place them in the success center.  Looking ahead, semester tests will be on January 10 and 13. January 14 will be the make up day. Grades will be due then on January 15 at 8:30 am. I will store ...

Happy Friday! Thank you for your patience Wednesday during in-service. I know Mrs. Zeka and I were frustrated because that wasn’t really the training we wanted for you on the Star platform. We will work to get you the information needed to use the program. Mrs. Zeka and I are going to set the students up in classes by periods, for example Modern Algebra 2, Period 2. If you would like your classes set up, please let us know. I will be starting with the Math courses; Mrs. Zeka will work on English; then we will divide up the rest. You will then be able to pull up your students without having to select the students each time from the class list. Hopefully, this will make accessing this data easier. I am also going to create a new bell schedule and take time away from all classes that we will run when we give the Star assessments. Since we can see how long the test took, we will give the amount of time it took to get 90% of the students done. Students who do not finish will be sent to...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had an excellent week. Many of you saw that we had a surprise fire inspection on Wednesday. I am happy to report we did not have any major violations. However, we did have a few write ups for power strips being plugged into a power strip. Please make sure that your power strips are in the outlet and not another power strip. Also, we had a few extension cords. Please make sure we are not using extension cords. Finally, we had a few ceiling tiles out. If you need to move a ceiling tile, please make sure it is back in place.  Good luck to the LCHS Dance team as they compete at state dance today. Also, good luck to those students putting on the Madrigal show tonight and tomorrow.  Since we are starting to see more and more campaign materials for the 2020 Presidential race, I want to give you a few legal reminders. In your classroom, you must refrain from endorsing a candidate. Students should not know your party affiliation based on discuss...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable week. Since we only have 2 days of school next week, I won't be sending out another Friday Focus until December 6. In you mailboxes you will have or will receive the ISASP sheets for your advisory students. I am asking that you conference with each student to go over their scores and set a goal with them for this April. Have the students write that goal on the goal sheet they filled out at the beginning of the school year. I would like you to collect the ISASP sheet and then keep them until we get closer to the testing in April. At that time, you will pass them back out to help remind them of where they scored and what their goal is for this year.  We are starting the registration process for next school year. Last night we met with a majority of the 8th grade parents and students to get them signed up. Judd and Melissa will be visiting classrooms of our current students to pass out the 4 year plan and to have them make revi...
