Happy Friday! Midterm was yesterday, the reports will be printed on Monday and then handed out during advisory. Also during advisory, have the students complete the midterm reflection. The shelter drill that was scheduled for Wednesday at 1:10 pm will now be on Thursday, December 6 at the same time.  I have been approached by several people, parents and students, about the retake policy. I have learned a few things from these discussions. The retake policy was put into place with our buildingwide grading policy. In the grading policy, summative assessments account for 85% of the students total grade. So if you only have 4 summative assessments for a quarter, one bad test could doom any student. Because of this,  All summative assessments will allowed to be retaken. You have discretion on if an individual student has abused the retake policy to say no. This means the entire summative assessment and not just parts of it can be retaken. It may mean more work for us, but if yo...

Happy Friday! Since we don't have school next Friday, this will take care of the next couple of weeks. Remember we run the one hour early out schedule on Tuesday. We will have several students missing today for the funeral. Please encourage those attending to come back here afterwards. We don't want them to comeback because of missing class, but for the support that can be offered to them. Being alone after a classmate's funeral will be hard, we can be there for those who need us if they are here.  If you gave summative assessments this week, please note how the students did. Some of them may have not have had their head into the test, as a result, may not have done as well as normal. Please consider reassessing those students, as we want what is best for them.  As I reflect on how this week went, I am left wondering what we could have done differently or better. If you have an idea on how to handle incidents like this, please share them with me. Losing a student nev...

Happy Friday! Tonight will be night 2 of the LCHS production of Shrek. If possible, come and check out our students as they perform. They have a performance tonight and tomorrow, both at 7:00 pm at the MS auditorium. On Monday, I will have a senior class meeting in the competition gym. I need to discuss a change in graduation speaker and we will take the class picture at that time. Looking ahead the trimester ends on 11/15 and the midterm of 2nd quarter is 11/29. Reminder I will not take any more PASS plans after this date. If we are going to come up with a plan, it will take longer than 4 weeks to make up for 14 weeks of not meeting expectations.  Next extra hour meeting is on November 28 and will be from 4:00-5:00 pm. We will meet in the library for that meeting.  The foundation is still looking for Employee of the Month nominations. Please take the time to nominate a colleague. Forms are found on the www.lemarscsd.org website under the employee tab. Have a great w...

Happy Friday! We are now entering November. It always seems these next two months go by pretty fast. Looking ahead to next spring, we are hoping to find a couple soccer coaches for next year. If you have an interest in coaching soccer, please talk to Mr. Hector or myself. The plan is to start playing a JV schedule in the 19-20 school year. We would like the coaches to start doing some skill building/open fields this spring to get ready for the upcoming season.  It was amazing how fast the stadium seating came down at the football field. It was like Monday morning it was there and when I left it was gone. It will be fun watching the building process take shape.  With the end of quarter, we had a few students that did not pass, but have not had a pass plan. You must have a PASS Plan on file with me for any student who has potential to fail the semester. I will not accept PASS Plans after 2nd quarter midterm. As this is too late for any real change to take place. Please get...
