Happy Friday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable week. Since we only have 2 days of school next week, I won't be sending out another Friday Focus until December 6. In you mailboxes you will have or will receive the ISASP sheets for your advisory students. I am asking that you conference with each student to go over their scores and set a goal with them for this April. Have the students write that goal on the goal sheet they filled out at the beginning of the school year. I would like you to collect the ISASP sheet and then keep them until we get closer to the testing in April. At that time, you will pass them back out to help remind them of where they scored and what their goal is for this year.  We are starting the registration process for next school year. Last night we met with a majority of the 8th grade parents and students to get them signed up. Judd and Melissa will be visiting classrooms of our current students to pass out the 4 year plan and to have them make revi...

Happy Friday! It is hard to believe it is already Friday. Thank you for your work during our inservice on Wednesday. I know the data analysis task was a little more difficult when we don't have the test or questions to look at to see what our students missed. We will be getting some segregated data in December sometime, but that will be on our report card. Also, I heard some good discussion in the different groups. The freshmen group started to identify teachers who were willing to check in more frequently with their at-risk students. These teachers had already developed that relationship with the student. This is a small way that can make big gains. If the student feels like he/she has someone pulling for them, their effort and attitude can change for the positive. Looking ahead, the 2nd quarter midterm is on November 26. All PASS Plans should be done by this time. I show we currently have 110 students failing one or more classes. I have only had 19 PASS Plan meeting forms tur...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. As we close out our first full week in November, Thanksgiving Break will quickly be approaching. For those of you who have trimester classes, the trimester ends next Friday. Grades will be due on Tuesday, November 19 at 8:30 am. I will then store grades.  We do have our building inservice on Wednesday. Please bring your laptop to the library. We will spend the first part looking at our ISASP data. The GREAT news is that our building scored well. We were above 80% proficient in all areas. This is something you should be very proud about. The data conversations will look a little different this year and I'll go over the various data sources. We will not have test questions or know what questions the students missed. At this time ISASP does not provide this.  I would like to give a plug for the fall play coming up next week. Performances will be on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. You can buy your tickets in the office o...

Happy Friday! As we wrap up the first week of quarter 2, please make sure you have completed PASS Plans for all at-risk students by 11/26/19. I have already talked to all the seniors that failed a first semester class and will be working on the other grades. Mr. Formanek is also talking to those seniors and will be pulling opens.  I have had some questions regarding the retake policy. The retake policy does give you the flexibility to determine what the student has to do to show they have learned the material better. Please don't ask them to do a ton of work while they are trying to keep up with the current work. Many of the students I am talking to about their grades, tell me they don't do the retake because they can't do that and current work. They don't realize that I have their grades up when I am talking with them, so I ask them why they are not doing their current work. For these students, who are not doing anything, we need to wear them down. We need to be re...
